The Hamilton-Wentworth Elementary Teachers` Local consists of approximately 2,200 elementary teachers employed by the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. HWETL is a member of the Ontario Elementary Teachers` Federation and, as such, a professional organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the publicly funded cause of education while defending the interests and well-being of its members. HWETL is also a union committed to ensuring and maintaining fair and reasonable bargaining rights for its members. HWETL wishes to participate in membership and at the same time offers professional and personal services to all Hamilton-Wentworth Elementary Teachers. Recognition and respect for diversity enable this organization to act as a single body to fulfil its mission of service to all members and to the Community. Please note that the increase in the salary network for years of service and/or qualifications is governed by the contract that is imposed on members by bulletin 115 and which affects our salary after the 97th day of the school year. This may change depending on the negotiations between ETFO and the government at the central table.
